Food Label Detective: Sunshine Snacks Chee Zees

This cheese based snack by Sunshine Snacks has been revised in many ways. The ingredients list is shorter, some of the controversial items were removed and some items were added. The packaging is new along with the No Cholesterol claim and the Heart Check Symbol.
For a product to boast that it is made with 'Real Cheese' directly contradicts the No Cholesterol claim and Heart Check Symbol. The  underlying meaning  of having these items on the label is misleading to the average consumer. The product contains four cholesterol containing food items (Cheddar Cheese, Romano Cheese, Blue Cheese and Buttermilk), so regardless the portion  eaten, cholesterol is present.

Controversial Items Removed:
Partially Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil,
Hydrolysed Soy Protein,
Disodium Inosinate and  Guanylate

Bottom-line:

An explanation from the manufacturer regarding the placement of such claims/symbol on the product would be welcomed. If you are going to eat this product, then go ahead and eat it. Be sure not to make it an everyday staple within the diet.
